Now that you’ve had a crack at the mySpider ZT interface, I want to share with you the mySpider ZT paws that my MGS colleagues Chris, Tony and I created.
TaylorMade has the best club customizer interface
For a number of years, TaylorMade has had the best interface on the web for customizing putters and other clubs. Competitors are not even close.
For a while, the playing field was pretty even. This changed when TaylorMade unveiled the myStealth2+ interface.
The design choices were reflected in the layout immediately. Most importantly, users can now rotate the club in three-dimensional space. This allowed users to view their creation from all angles. At the time, other companies’ renderings were static images from different angles.
That myStealth2+ interface was far beyond the competition and thankfully carried over into TaylorMade’s other customization programs, such as the mySpider ZT creator we’re seeing the fruits of today.
The only criticism I have of the TaylorMade myProgram system is that they never went back to driver customization. The Shadowfall versions are cool but they are no substitute for the ability to fully customize the driver.
Now that the scene is set and you’ve played around with the interface, let’s take a look at the cameras we built.
Dave’s Sun Devil mySpider ZT
Forks Up! We’re fast approaching the best time of the year: college football season! Of course, I had to send some love to my Arizona State Sun Devils.
Typically around the beginning of August, my mostly purple golf gear turns to maroon and gold. The ASU carry bag comes out of storage, as do the pom-pom embellished covers.
In recent years, this tradition has resulted in many victories! eMPLOYMENT Head Coach Kenny Dillingham maybe it helped too, but I’m not going to give up the power of a single golf club changer.
As usual, I’m very happy with the layout versus the actual results. In many ways, hand shooting is better than acting. For example, the shaft and grip are a much deeper maroon than the computer screen suggests. Overall, it was solid what you see is what you get experience.
it Sun Devil mySpider ZT it will fit perfectly with the ASU aesthetic. If I can find an Arizona State center cover, we can win the college football national championship this year.

Sunsets are blue and orange because even God loves the Denver Broncos. At least, that’s my line of thinking.
On order it is done standard in the sense that adding a personal flair to every element of your club setup is something most golfers seem to expect, especially when it comes to drivers and wedges. The “A-game” isn’t always in the trunk, but at least you’ll like the way your player looks.
Is this worth a lot? Maybe not on the scoreboard, but should I lose that left-to-right slider for the birdie, at least I can fondly remember The Drive, The Fumble, and Von Miller destroying Cam Newton in the SB 50.
In terms of process, the interface is simple and user-friendly. If you can easily order Door Dash, I’m always a little wary of going with a very bold color scheme.
So while this is Denver Broncos inspired, I limited any orange accents to the sole, offset by the blue face. So it’s enough to drop more than a subtle hint. I also wanted something with a familiar address profile with a bit of contrast, so the matte silver top line.
If I were to take this back, I might go for a complete Sunday Rickie Fowler kit: orange body with blue face and white accents. But that’s the beauty and appeal of any custom program: the virtually limitless options that constantly threaten to deplete your Venmo account.
And for the record, I’m going to see Dave’s ASU hammer cap and get him a Broncos “D” logo head cover.
Tony’s Let’s not overcomplicate this shit Putter
First off, no one told me we had to do some sort of “team theme”, so don’t expect that from me. I started the build with the counterbalanced option for no other reason than, on an OEM visit a few years ago, I played a round with a counterbalanced shooter. It went pretty well and since I hadn’t used it since then I figured why not?
The downside of this decision is that it immediately led to fewer options than you would get with a standard build like Dave’s.
With that, a good part of what I did was a process of elimination. I felt like the main ground option was a little busy for my taste, so I passed on that. Because there’s a lot of chatter about the “quiet eye” stuff right now, I’d love a single point alignment option. This is not in the catalog, so I went with three points, convincing myself that if one is quiet, three is silent.
Winning.
I could have done a black/weapon pairing if it was available in the CB build, but it’s not and, since I’m not a fan of the hydroblast, I went with a cohesive black look. And, again, since I’m not trying to emphasize the theme (the intent was subtle), I went with a simple gun face insert instead of something like electric blue (which I definitely considered). The black body with the armor insert creates a contrast without being over the top like Chris’s.
Likewise, I wanted some contrast on the sole, so I went with silver weights instead of black, and since it’s not the kind of thing you see at address anyway, I went with a splash of color through a dark blue sole plate with silver paint fills across the board.
Is it all a little understated about what Dave and Chris did? Absolutely. Is it less painful to watch? Also absolutely. To each their own, I guess.
For the custom engraving, I chose NMF3P!, short for No More Fucking 3 Putts. So far, the results have been mixed.
Finally, I chose the white headgear because I am amused by the thought of how shabby (or well-worn) it will look after a reasonable amount of use.
I’m not sure the zero torque (and adjacent ZT designs) are right for me, but the longer counterbalanced design gives me a new excuse to experiment. I think this is fun.
Final thoughts on mySpider ZT personal software
As I mentioned, the sheer number of options creates thousands of possibilities mySpider ZT Configurations.
Whatever comes to your mind, mySpider ZT program there will be options to build it.
You’ve seen for yourself how the three of us approached the build process and how we ended up with three very different inserts.
One thing worth noting is loading for customization. It’s only an additional $100 to go from running to full custom. If you know you want a Spider ZT, spend the extra cash. Mow some lawns, recycle your Busch Light Apple cans, or do whatever it takes to scrape together the extra Benjamin.
The custom program also allows you to change the physical characteristics of your putter such as length and angle of alignment. This means that not only will your putter look like a can of Bapple, but it will also fit your shot.
