Shortly after Williamson confirmed his international journey was over, Kohli posted an emotional note acknowledging the New Zealand legend’s immense contribution to the game. The Indian batsman described Williamson as more than just a rival, highlighting the bond they have built over the years competing at the biggest stages.

Kohli wrote that it was always a privilege to meet Williamson, who valued their conversations and further shared his understanding of cricket. Congratulating the former Black Cap captain on his extraordinary career, he wished him happiness in the next chapter of his life and encouraged his friend to enjoy the fruits of his years of dedication and hard work, noting that “life is just beginning”.
