Amanpreet was part of India’s promising U-19 set-up during his playing days and shared the dressing room with several up-and-coming international cricketers. Virat Kohli pays tribute to Amanpreet Singh Gill
Amanpreet was a right-arm medium pacer who represented India in the U-19 circuit along with Virat Kohli. Ravindra Jadeja, Manish Pandeyand others. He was part of the squad during the Under-19 Tri-Series in Sri Lanka in 2007 and showed promise as a lively fast bowler.
Although he did not make the senior Indian team like some of his teammates, Gill played domestic cricket for Punjab, featuring in the inaugural IPL season with Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) and later served on the Punjab senior selection committee.
Kohli took to social media to share a heartfelt message, expressing his “shock and sadness” at the untimely loss. He offered his condolences to Amanpreet’s family and friends and remembered the time they spent together in the Under-19 team.
