US Open second round pool times: What you need to know
Rory McIlroy had to wait to begin the quest for his second major of the year on Thursday morning at the 2026 US Open. That’s thanks to a long two-hour fog delay that pushed McIlroy’s team’s time back two hours.
But the delay did not adversely affect the world No. 2, at least initially. McIlroy, who won the 2011 US Open at Congress, got off to a fast start, making birdies on 11 and 12, his second and third holes of the day. to tie for the early lead at two under.
Whether or not he can continue his strong play Friday at Shinnecock Hills is another matter.
Second round match times may be affected by the fog delay that hit Shinnecock Hills on Thursday. No matter what, some players will not complete Round 1 on Thursday and will be forced to complete their rounds on Friday morning.
McIlroy was originally scheduled to tee off in the second round on Friday at 1:47 p.m. ET, but the fog delay could affect his practice time.
