Tyson Fury says Daniel Dubois and Fabio Wardley are still far below his level, despite Dubois recently winning the WBO heavyweight title and rebuilding momentum with wins over Anthony Joshua, Filip Hrgovic and Wardley.
Fury discussed both heavyweights while talking about his August 1 comeback fight ahead of a projected showdown with Anthony Joshua later this year.
“It’s like EFL League One versus UEFA Champions League,” Fury said FurociTV.
“Although they had a good fight together, we saw what happens when Dubois steps up to the Premier League. They don’t really do anything for me.
“They’re very good fighting men. But there’s not a lot of punches being avoided. It’s just mainly give and take. I’m not going to get off the court.
“At my age now, I have to capitalize on making as much as I can.”
Dubois (23-3, 22 KOs) stopped Wardley in the 11th round earlier this month after losses to Oleksandr Usyk in two failed title attempts. Fury (35-2-1, 24 KOs) also lost twice to Usyk before bouncing back with a decision win over Arslanbek Makhmudov last month.
Fury has repeatedly pointed to Anthony Joshua as the fight he wants after his August appointment.
The heavyweight division also continues to move Fury around. Moses Itauma remains positioned near the top of the WBO rankings, while Agit Kabayel and Frank Sanchez are still waiting for title opportunities that could be linked to which direction Fury, Dubois, Usyk and Joshua ultimately decide to take next.
