Tim Bradley believes Keyshawn Davis is being sidelined once again as attention shifts to a potential matchup between Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson.
Haney and Stevenson have discussed the possibility of facing each other at catchweight in recent days, with both fighters publicly expressing interest in making the fight happen. If negotiations progress, it could make Davis wait despite his position as the WBO’s top welterweight contender.
“If this fight (Haney-Shakur) gets made, Keyshawn, I told you. I told you, son. You put yourself in line for the belt and all that (expletive), man. Shakur’s about to get you on it. I told you. I told you. I told you, son. Second fiddle always to Shakur Stevenson. Yes,” Bradley said on his channel.
“He’s better than you. That’s what it is. He’s better than you.”
Keyshawn spent weeks sparring with Haney, repeatedly reminding the WBO welterweight champion that he held the mandatory position. Haney has previously expressed interest in the bout, but recent developments have instead centered on a possible meeting with Stevenson.
Bradley also weighed in on where a potential Haney-Stevenson fight should take place.
“One request, please, Turki Alalshikh, Zuffa Boxing, whatever, whoever is going to take this fight if the fight is agreed upon, this fight in America, please. We don’t want, no offense to Saudi Arabia, no offense to them, but have Shakur and Haney in America. Please keep it in America, man.”
No official deal has been announced for either Haney-Stevenson or Haney-Davis.
