Many golfers with slow swing speeds (less than 90 mph) assume they need a draw pattern or a maximum forgiveness head to get the most out of their driver. I understand how this happens. Marketing leads you there, winning often leads you there, and it just sounds logical. More apologies, more launches, more help.
But we’re long past the days of not meeting the draw pattern simply because your movement speed is slower. Data from our 2026 Best drivers for slow swing speeds the test supports it. Several drivers who would pass slower swingers produced some of the strongest results in the entire field. Here’s what stood out.
of ZXi it is not the low rev tour head. This is it ZXi LS. It’s also not the game-enhancing Srixon option built specifically for slower swingers, ZXi Max. of ZXi it’s the standard model, the one that sits in the middle with no special biases and no special promises for any type of golfer.
He posted a distance score of 9.8 in the slow motion speed test, the highest of the entire 42-driver field. In real numbers, he averaged 189 yards a carry and 204 total yards. of ZXi Maxthe Srixon driver designed for the “slower drive speed” population averaged 183 carries and 197 total. The standard model beat the maximum forgiveness version by six carry yards.
of ZXi finished second overall in the slow swing speed test with a 9.2 MGS score, posting strong numbers in distance, accuracy and forgiveness with no category falling below 8.4. If you assumed that MAX was your only option, think again.
This is the most counterintuitive result in the data set. of G440 LST is PING’s low-spin, tournament-oriented head. PING describes it as aimed at players with faster swing speeds. A fitter would almost never direct a slow swing at him.
of G440 LST posted a forgiveness score of 9.1 in the slow swing speed test, which is really strong for a low-spinning tour head. It is not as forgiving as G440 SFTwho scored a 9.6 but also posted a solid 8.4 yardage score and 198 yards of total yardage. of G440 LST struggled to produce enough accuracy for the slower swing speed player. However, if you already generate a lot of spins, it’s worth testing together SFT.
of Triple diamond is Callaway’s compact, low-revving tour model. It is not mentioned anywhere in the slow speed chat.
Finished 11th overall with an 8.8 in distance, 8.9 accuracy and 8.5 forgiveness. No weak points anywhere. He averaged 182 yards a carry and 201 total. For a slower sportsman who isn’t dealing with a dramatic loss and wants a driver who can stay in every category, the data backs him up.
Not every lower spin model was a good case here. of DYNAPWR LS averaged 200 total yards and posted a distance score of 8.8. Only from a distance, it looks competitive. Then you see the rest: a 7.9 accuracy score and a 7.4 forgiveness score, one of the lowest forgiveness numbers in the entire field.
Distance without control is a bad trade-off for slower swingers. of DYNAPWR Max posted a 9.0 forgiveness score and 8.7 distance. If you’re buying the Wilson line, the LS numbers don’t hold up when you look at the full picture.
Final thoughts
Slow-speed golfers often make equipment decisions based on assumptions that the data doesn’t support. of ZXi leading the field in the distance as the standard model. of G440 LST posting strong apology numbers. These are not horrors. They appear because the right club for your swing isn’t always what the label says it should be.
