The TravisMathew x St Andrews Collection is done right by Golf Heritage

There are golf co-ops and then there are the St Andrews co-ops.

The difference? Most brands slap a tartan on a polo and call it heritage. TravisMathew’s latest collection with St Andrews Links actually understands the task.

Now in its fourth year of partnership with the Home of Golf, TravisMathew is back with one full line-up of clothing and footwear that leans into the history of St Andrews without feeling too traditional or costume-y. Think modern silhouettes, performance fabrics and enough tartan to remind you that this isn’t your local muni thrift store.

The central part is Limited Edition NuAge Mega Tartan Shoes and, frankly, it’s the kind of release that will probably do numbers online. The silhouette debuted earlier this year (and a hefty price tag at MyGolfSpy spiked shoe test). But now it gets the full St Andrews treatment with an exclusive tartan print linked directly to the partnership.

The rest of the collection follows a similar formula. Poles, layering pieces, tees AND accessories all pull from the classic golf aesthetic while staying dressed off the ropes. This balance has become TravisMathew’s sweet spot over the past few years, and this collection probably represents the purest version of it yet.

The partnership itself has also become a larger part of TravisMathew’s identity. Between the retail store overlooking the 18th green and the annual brand ambassador summit in St Andrews, this has evolved beyond a simple logo licensing game.

And honestly, that’s what makes the collection work. It doesn’t feel like a brand borrowing story. It feels like someone is trying to become a part of it.
