After the match, Kishan made it clear that moving away from wicketkeeping allowed him to be more involved as captain. He pointed out that juggling both roles sometimes led to gaps in communication with bowlers and fielders.

According to Kisha, the confinement limited his ability to visit bowlers, discuss field placements and adjust strategies in real time. He admitted that there were moments of miscommunication while keeping wickets that could have affected the execution on the field.

“I think you know as a captain, I felt there was some misunderstanding. You know, sometimes when you’re saving there’s no time. You can’t talk to the bowlers about the plans.” Kishan said after the match.

Impressive season with the bat for Kishan

Kisha’s decision did not affect his batting rhythm – quite the opposite in fact. The left-hander, who is currently among the top run-scorers in IPL 2026, has been in sensational touch throughout the tournament.

In five matches, he has amassed 213 runs at an explosive strike rate of over 190, making him one of the most dangerous batsmen this season. His aggressive approach, especially against pace bowlers, has been a defining feature of his campaign. His recent knock of 91 runs against Rajasthan Royals showcased his ability to dominate attacks with ease. An innings laced with boundaries and powerful sixes played a vital role in securing a team win by 57 runs for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Interestingly, Kisha’s performances have created a healthy rivalry in the SRH dressing room. Although currently second in the Orange Cap standings, his teammate Heinrich Klaasen He tops the charts with 224 runs. The duo’s consistent contributions have been instrumental in SRH’s strong start to the season. Their ability to anchor and pace the innings gave the team a solid batting foundation.
