Shakur Stevenson ranged on the lightweight (135 pounds) division ring ranking after defeating William Zepeda last Saturday night in Queens, New York. The panel that ranks fighters for the organization was of the opinion that Shakur’s victory over the flat foot, light, easy-to-hit Zepeda (33-1, 27 COs) was enough to risk him to the top #1 place.

Zepeda: not a partner for #1
It was a superficial victory For Shakur, who hit a punch bag without power, which was tired by the sixth round. Zepeda was probably beaten in his two previous fights by Tevin Farmer, but was rescued by the judges in both fights.
That choice makes no sense. Zepeda is not a good enough fighter to arrange as a partner for Shakur (24-0, 11 kos) at 135 at the top of the pile. In addition, the victory, along with the broad scores enabled by the judging crew, was not decisive enough for Shakur to be close to the #1 place.

- Shakur Stevenson
- Gevonta Davis
- Raymond Muratalla
- William Zepeda

The combination of the strange scores, the opponent of the mill, and the problems Shakur had to reach the victory #8.
Andy Cruz: Apex of the lightweight section
If we arrange through real talent and not through a popularity competition based on superficial victories over less opposition, Andy cruz Earn the no. 1 -fighter at lightweight. The ‘Diamond’ Cruz showed in his last three fights that he was fighting the highest level in the 135 pound division. Therefore, he is avoided by other lightweights such as Shakur. He became part of the untouchable class at Lightweight, along with Abdullah Mason and Floyd Schofield.
