Ryan Garcia tells critics to “get to work”

Ryan Garcia hit back at critics on Monday after questions resurfaced about the amount of big opportunities he continues to get in boxing despite long spells of controversy outside the ring.

Garcia is expected to defend his WBC welterweight title against Conor Benn later this year after returning to the sport following his victory over Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero earlier this month. His name also continued to generate discussions about possible fights against Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson.

Ryan has continued to divide opinion throughout boxing due to the attention and headline fights that follow him, even during periods when he is inactive in the ring.

Supporters point to his ability to sell tickets, generate social media traffic and produce knockouts as reasons why promoters continue to put him in big events. Garcia also remains one of the sport’s most visible names outside the ring, with millions of followers across social media platforms and frequent crossover appearances in mainstream entertainment.

However, critics still question whether Garcia is getting opportunities that other fighters with similar records won’t be given. The topic has gotten even tougher since his move to welterweight and his return to the title picture.

Ryan (25-2, 20 KOs) captured the WBC welterweight title with his victory over Romero and quickly returned to the center of discussion at 147 pounds heading into the second half of 2026.
