Rolly Romero And Teofimo Lopez agree to August 22nd WBA title fight

The deal was reportedly completed directly between Lopez’s team and DAZN, bypassing traditional promotional negotiations. Lopez also confirmed during Saturday night’s broadcast that his next fight will be against Romero.

The match has been discussed for several days, but this is the first confirmation that both sides have reached an agreement. Romero will make the first defense of the WBA welterweight title he won earlier this year, while Lopez moves up to challenge for a world title at 147 pounds.

An official announcement with venue details is expected in the coming weeks, but the fight is now being targeted for August 22 in Las Vegas. The clash pits two highly touted former world champions against each other in what is expected to be one of the biggest DAZN events of the summer.
