In a commanding display at the Jan Breydelstadion, Club Brugge overwhelmed Union Saint-Gilloise with a resounding 5-1 win. The home side took control early on, with Hans Vanaken opening the scoring in the 31st minute, assisted by Christos Tzolis. In the second half, Brugge kept up their pace, with Tzolis adding to the score in the 87th minute, assisted by Jorne Spileers, before Carlos Forbes capped the rout with a late goal, again set up by Tzolis.
Union Saint-Gilloise got a consolation goal through Carlos Forbes in stoppage time, but it was too little, too late. The match showcased Brugge’s attacking prowess and tactical superiority as Union struggled to cope with relentless pressure, ultimately succumbing to a heavy defeat that will weigh heavily on their confidence going forward.
