
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are set to receive a major boost as a regular captain, Pat Cumminsreceived official permission to rejoin the team. After a successful medical examination under his supervision Cricket Australia (CA) Sydney’s top fast bowler has been given the green light to resume full bowling duties without any restrictions. This news comes as a significant relief for the “Orange Army” who acted in the first half of the tournament under the guidance of the stand-in skipper. Ishan Kishi.
Road to recovery for Pat Cuumins
Cummins has been sidelined since July 2025 with a long-term back injury that has severely limited his playing time. After briefly joining the team in India earlier this month, he returned to Australia on Wednesday for a final, critical check-up overseen by CA medical staff. The results confirmed a full recovery from the injury, paving the way for his return to the subcontinent.
When will Cummins play for SRH?
Fans eager to see Cummins back in action will have to wait a little longer for his matchday debut this season. He will undergo a short period of conditioning and pre-match training before taking the field when he lands in India tomorrow.
- Arrival in India: Friday, April 17, 2026.
- Matches excluded: Cummins will not take part in the high-stakes clash Chennai Super Kings (April 18) or an upcoming game Capitals of Delhi (April 21).

Impact on SRH’s campaign
