Odyssey is targeting one of the barriers to it Setting “zero torque”. with her last Square 2 Freeing the square.
The putting mod method has caught fire over the past few years, but many players still shy away from the typical center pivot and starting patterns due to their unfamiliarity.
But with the new S2S Tri-Hot line, Odyssey has taken the spindle and moved it forward, allowing the spindle to sit closer to the leading edge of the thrower but still pass through the propellant’s CG to give it toe-lift properties.
In addition to the new configuration, the machines feature a new Ai-Dual insert, which is the next iteration of Callaway’s Ai-designed face inserts introduced with the Ai-One line two years ago.
Continue reading below for more on the new S2S Tri-Hot putter line and my thoughts on the new release.
What are Odyssey S2S Tri-Hot putters?
The new S2S Tri-Hot gear is unmistakable in green with a new red and black color scheme that harkens back to the brand’s colors.
“As we say in the building, our product should be ‘DSPD,'” Callaway VP of Product Strategy Jacob Davidson told GOLF Callaway. We felt like getting that red and black – it’s going to be something you see on TV – it’s true to Odyssey.”

Paws are offered in three different popular Odyssey head shapes – No. 7, Rossie and Jailbird, which also comes in a 38” Cruiser configuration – but the other thing you’ll notice about them is the forward axle location compared to other low-torque crossover options.
Davidson said it allows putters to be played without shaft binding, which has been one of the obstacles to low-torque putters for many players. Now you can have a low torque meter but keep your hands in a traditional position.
To achieve this, Odyssey used a three-piece construction—hence the reintroduction of the Tri-Hot name—with more than 140 grams of tungsten in the front of the case and a lightweight aluminum rear. The insert and tungsten are covered by a steel body to which the shaft is attached.
The paws also feature a new Ai-Dual insert, which is designed using artificial intelligence with a dual-layer urethane insert that has a soft outer layer and a hard inner layer. The grooves have also been redesigned with a more aggressive 19˚ slope.

To round out the builds, Odyssey is also introducing a new, heavier and stiffer SL120 shaft based on player feedback and a new plus grip pistol that was developed when Odyssey noticed players were increasingly using larger sized grips.
Who are Osyssey S2S Tri-Hot putters for?
This has been a common theme with the latest low-torque thruster releasesbut the S2S Tri-Hot putter will do well for the player who has wanted to get into a low-torque putter but has hesitated because of the unconventional features.
While still a center shaft putter, at address the new Tri-Hots look a lot more like regular gauges with the shaft much closer to the face (it still has a bit of head) and can be hit just like a regular putter.
The feel is also slightly more responsive than the original Ai-One insert.

My thoughts!
There was a lot of noise when The S2S Tri-Hots first started showing up at pro tournaments a few weeks ago and after twisting my paws myself, I get it
As someone who doesn’t traditionally like hammers, I’ve been drawn to the smaller form factor, the Rossie, and I’ve found that I don’t have to make any of the adjustments to my setup that I do for other low-torque rigs. I don’t make any adjustments to hand position or forward pressure and I don’t need to play the ball as far forward.
The larger grips also play really well on low-torque machines to help someone like me, who has years of toe-off muscle memory, ease my hands into a natural putter rest. I’m glad to see the Odyssey just putting the kind of handle on a shooter that people were putting anyway.

I’ve never been one for synthetic material inlays because they have that plasticky feel and sound that I find cheap. This is different because it maintains a soft feel that I like, but is more responsive. Plus, the new grooves seem to produce a great roll inside (I haven’t had a chance to try outside yet). The price point ($550) might be surprising for an Odyssey shooter, but such a device has a premium feel for sure.
Finally, I think there is a lot to build from this release. During my interview with Davidson, I pointed out that the fronts of the three different models are very similar. In theory, it looks like you could just create new parts in the back and create all kinds of different shapes from the platform.

Odyssey Tri-Hot Square 2 Square #7 Custom Putter
We have moved Zero Torque Forward. Odyssey’s new line of S2S TRI-HOT gauges is a revolution in the Zero Torque category. By using multi-material construction, we’ve been able to move the CG of these rigs far enough forward to get the shaft into the head on the topline, eliminating the need for shaft ligation and thus eliminating one of the biggest barriers to entry for this style of casting. Forward CG and Hose Position By moving the CG forward, we were able to position the hose spud on the top line, much closer to the face than typical Zero Torque setters for a more natural, intuitive and comfortable installation position. Multi-Material Construction By strategically using aluminum, steel and over 140 grams of tungsten, we’ve been able to design a “Zero Torque” gauge with more than 80% of its weight below the topline and allowing for our forward CG position and hose. New FRD Groove This new Forward Roll design groove is deeper and more aggressive. With a 19° slope it works together with the two-layer design to improve forward rotation up and down the face.
