The Ducati Lenovo Team rider underwent two surgeries this morning, one on his right leg and the other on his right shoulder.
Madrid, Spain. – Marc Marquez is currently recovering at the Ruber International Hospital in Madrid, having undergone a successful double operation this morning. The medical team led by Dr. Samuel Antuna, along with his colleagues Dr. Ignacio Roger de Ogna, Dr. Andres Maldonado, Dr. Jorge de las Heras, Dr. Raul Barco and Dr. Juan de Miguel, successfully stabilized the fracture in the fifth metatarsal of the passenger’s right foot. The injury was caused by Hayside’s crash in the final stages of the Sprint race at the French Grand Prix yesterday.
At the same time, Marquez underwent a second scheduled surgery to repair the damage to his right shoulder. Following last year’s violent crash at the Indonesian Grand Prix, this past trauma became painful again. The doctors removed two screws and bone fragments from Latarjet (December 2019) surgery that reversed the compression of the radial nerve.
As previously announced, the Ducati Lenovo Team rider will not participate in next week’s Catalan GP. He will stay overnight in the hospital and return home tomorrow to begin his recovery. Progress in the coming weeks will determine when he returns to competition.
