MotoGP removed the pit-lane rule years before the Marc Marquez incident

Speaking The MotoGP podcast of the raceJournalist Simon Patterson described the dramatic and quiet regime change he met in Guido’s field.

Meda sent Meda a rule stating that crossing the white lines was not a legal way to enter the pit lanes and that the designated lanes were the only way to the pits.

“What I don’t understand, and I can’t get an answer to is why the rules around pit entrances were removed from the MotoGP rule book a few years ago.

“Guido Meda, the famous Italian MotoGP analyst, sent me a message last night. “I got this, and I can’t figure out what year it is from. But the entrance to the well line should be done only through the reduced line or the designated area. Crossing the white lines when entering the pit lane is prohibited.”

“So at some point in the last few years that’s been taken out. And I don’t really understand why? It’s not out until 12 minutes after the race on Saturday.

I don’t know where this got lost because then it would make what Mark did illegal. But he didn’t do anything illegal because he didn’t have any rules. Because it’s not there now.
