Wild cards have been banned in MotoGP for 2027, 850cc machines have been banned for MotoGP for 2026 and further updates have been confirmed by the Grand Prix Commission.
The Grand Prix Commission met throughout March and April 2026, with some updates approved for early application and others to be implemented in 2027.
One is the banning of wild cards in the MotoGP class, regardless of production level, which will come into effect from 2027.
Wildcards with 850cc engines – ahead of rule changes in 2027 – are also banned from the MotoGP class for 2026. So that means we won’t see any new era of machines to compete with this season.
