Colin Weir secured pole position for Moto2 World Championship qualifying on Saturday in Cercio de Jerez – Angel Nieto, Spain. Riding his Red Bull KTM Ajo Kalex on Pirelli Control tires, Veiger topped the field of 28 riders with a time of 1:39.101.
Alex Eskrigg was second best at 1:39.158 in the KLINT Racing Team Forward.
Manuel Gonzalez took the third and final spot in his Liqui Moly Dynavolt IntactGP Calex with a 1:39.196.
Teammate Senna Agius was fourth in 1:39.255, while Alonso Lopez in the ITALJET Gresini Calex was fifth in 1:39.256.
American Joe Roberts finished 20th with a lap time of 1:40.119 for his fellow American racing team Calex.

Veijer takes his historic first Moto2 pole. The Dutchman is the first pole sitter in the class since 1991 when Escrig and Gonzalez completed the front row.
For the first time since the 1991 Japanese GP, a Dutchman will line up on pole position in the Moto2 class, with Colin Weir (Red Bull KTM Ajo) Calex-Triumph stuck next to the P1 board at Parc Ferme in Jerez on Saturday. Vejer set a 1:39.101 in an incredibly competitive lap with Alex Eskrigg (KLINT Racing Team) and championship leader Manuel Gonzalez (Leaky Molly Dynavolt Intact GP) finishing on the front row by 0.095 seconds.
Austin winner and Friday’s pacesetter Senna Agius (Licky Molly Dynavolt Intact GP) led the second row in P4 and led some of Q2, joining the Australian behind the front row with Alonso Lopez (ITALJET Gresini Moto2) and David Alonso (CFmoto Gaviota Holga Team) joining Colombia’s Aspar team. At P7. Can the Aspar duo compete for victory from here on out?
Barry Baltes (REDS Fantic Racing) entered Q2 as one of the favorites for pole, but the Belgian was unable to repeat his performance from Austin last time – the #7 started from P8. Ezan Guevara (BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2) qualified in P9, the second rider in the championship, but with a three-place grid penalty added, the Spaniard has a tough job on the grid from P12 on Sunday.
