More from the MotoGP press release:

Agius breaks the standings lap record at the front of Jerez. The COTA winner’s 1:38.973 put Lopez and Baltes in the lead at the Spanish GP on Saturday.

Senna Agius (Leaky Molly Dynavolt Intact GP) was the rider to win Saturday’s Spanish Grand Prix after the Austin race winner set a new Jerez Moto 2 lap record in practice. The Australian’s 1:38.973 was closely followed by Alonso Lopez’s (Italjet Gresini Moto2) best effort, with the Spaniard sitting 0.079s clear of Agius after the opening day, with FP1 pacesetter Barry Baltus (REDS Fantic Racing) third fastest.

It was Balthus who held first place in the early exchanges before Colin Weir (Red Bull KTM Ajo) quickly moved up to P1 in a new lap record, before Agius stepped in to move the goalposts on Pirelli rubber in the closing stages. The #81 is the only rider officially entered at 1:38 in Jerez, and that time is just six-tenths off Alex Rins’ best lap in MotoGP FP1. Exactly the performance.

It was the aforementioned Veyger who finished the late session in P4 with former world championship leader Daniel Holgado (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team), Izan Guevara (BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2) in 14th place.

The riders, who finished second in the race, Daniel Munoz (Italtrans Racing Team) and Mario Aji (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia) are in the top eight, David Alonso (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) P9 after the Colombian wrecked his Calex-Victory machine at Turn 13 in FP1.

World Championship leader Manuel Gonzalez (Licky Molly Dynavolt Intact GP) finished in P10 on Friday, 0.4s behind his teammate. Tune in for that at 13:40 local time!
