NEW YORK (May 27) – The: Mastercard New York Mini 10-K 54th Edition – The world’s first all-women road race, founded by the New York Road Runners in 1972, will feature a strong international field headlined by three of Kenya’s top athletes; Helen Obiri, Reigning Mini and TCS New York City Marathon Champion; Agnes Ngetich, Reigning World Cross Country Champion and 10-K World Record Holder; and: Sharon Lockedy, Two-time Boston Marathon champion.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Of the forty women’s elite field announced today for the June 6 race in Central Park, 15 will have personal bests from 32:00 (21 from 33:00), and the race will feature 10 Olympians and Paralympians, nine world medalists and multiple national record holders representing nine different countries. Twenty-eight US women are scheduled to compete.

obiri (at the Athletics Club), the 36-year-old, the only athlete in history to win world titles in cross-country, indoor track and outdoor track, has been particularly successful in the New York race. He has won the TCS New York City Marathon twice (2023 and 2025/course record), the United Airlines NYC Half twice (2023 and 2026), and the Mini once (2025). His personal best time is 30:15 (Manchester 2022) and his Mini best time is 30:19 when he shared second place with Ethiopia’s Senbere Teferi in 2023. The mini-course lands slightly and cannot set a record.
“I’m looking forward to returning to Central Park after setting the course record at the TCS New York City Marathon and winning the Mastercard New York Mini 10-K last year,” Obiri said in a statement. “I’m excited to take on this challenge among a competitive group of female athletes and the 10,000 women who will inspire and cheer each other on this course.”

For work The 25-year-old (adidas) World Athletics certified world record of 28:46 in Valencia in January 2024 and also holds the women’s only world record of 29:27 set in Herzogenaurach, Germany in 2025. After her victory at the World Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee last January, she had hoped to run well at the United New York semis last March, but suffered hypothermia and finished only 13th after sharing the lead with Obiri for the first half of the race. It will make its debut in the Mini.

Locked (Under Armour), 32, successfully defended his Boston Marathon title last April, finishing second to Obiri in the New York semifinals. Like Obiri, he is also very successful in running in New York. He won the NYC Half in 2025, the NYC Marathon in 2022, and was second in the Mini twice (2022 and 2024).
There are three Europeans in the field, including Slovenia Clara Lucan (Puma), European record holder and second fastest woman in the field with a personal best of 29:51. The 25-year-old will make her US track debut in a Mini.

Americans will be well represented Vaini Kelati (Nike) Emma Grace Hurley (Asics), Jessica McClain (Brooks), Yours Amanda (Brooks), Annie Frisby (Puma/Minnesota Distance Elite), Bailey Hartenstein (Nike), Annie Rodenfels (Solomon), Edna Kurgat (US Army), Dakota Pope (Puma/Minnesota Distance Elite), and Emily Venters (Nike). Kelaty, Hurley, McClain, Rodenfels and Kurgat were just yesterday selected by USA Track and Field to represent the USA at the World Track and Field Championships in Copenhagen in September.

Gelatin, At 29, the reigning national cross-country champion and North American half-marathon record holder was second in the Mini last year, running a personal best of 30:49. Hurley, 28, has raced the Mini three times and finished in the top 10 each time. McClain, 34, the fastest American in the Boston Marathon, has raced the Mini twice, finishing in the top 8 both times. Vestry, 26, has driven the Mini twice with great success. In 2024, he ran a personal best of 31:17 to finish fourth, and in 2025 he ran 31:20 to finish sixth.
Kelati enjoyed his battle with Obiri in last year’s Mini. “He’s a tough runner, he’s like a marathon runner,” Kelati said of Obiri. He continued. “I was like, no matter what, I have to follow him. I know he has a great finish. I just had to push myself today.”
The last American woman to win a Mini was Sarah Hall in 2021. He also won in 2019 when the race served as the USATF Championships.
Mini also has an elite wheelchair competition. Reigning Mini champion and course record holder Suzanne Scaroni will not defend her title (she is on maternity leave). As such, five-time TCS New York Marathon champion Tatiana McFadden appears to be the favorite to win. McFadden finished second in the Boston and London marathons last month.
“I’m excited to return to the Mastercard New York Mini 10-K and see if I can win my first Mini title,” McFadden said in a press release. “I love the energy of a women’s only race, especially one with so much history.”
Mini was founded in 1972 by the New York Road Runners led by Fred Lebow and Kathryn Switzer. It was called Crazylegs Mini Marathon (Crazylegs was a brand of women’s shaving cream). Only 72 women finished the race that year. After last year’s race, which had a record 9,973 finishers, a total of 255,289 athletes have completed the Mini in its history. Organizers expect more than 10,000 finishers this year.
