Ducati rider Marc Marquez believes Balaton Park’s lack of a right-hand corner hides the extent to which he still needs to improve after winning the Sprint race from pole position.

Marquez He replaced KTM’s Pedro Acosta as the man to beat at Balaton Park, after enjoying a thrilling Saturday. Hungarian Grand Prix. The odds seemed to be in Acosta’s favor this weekend, but he couldn’t answer the Spaniard in qualifying and sprinting.

He is only a week away from his return from injury at the Italian Grand Prix. Marquez secured pole position for the Hungarian GP By just 0.053 seconds over Acosta at the end of Q2. A quick start also saw Marquez Acosta win the Balaton Park by 1.548 seconds and was under little pressure.

Marc Marquez knows that he is far from good at right-hand corners

Acosta acknowledged Marquez’s dominance at the start of the sprint at Balaton Parkas he saw after four corners how fast the Ducati star was in the short race. But Marquez feels that any suggestion that he has returned to form after a difficult start due to injury is incorrect.

Instead, Marquez thinks the lack of a right-back at Balaton Park will overshadow how much he needs to improve while his shoulder is on the mend. The 33-year-old lost a lot of muscle in his right shoulder before undergoing another operation in May.

Marquez said. DAZN: “It’s true that you start to ride a bike and understand what it needs, how to ride and push the limits. But you shouldn’t ride too much. You try to go fast, and it goes slowly.

“The main thing for me is to continue to improve. This result does not mean that my physical condition has changed in three days, but in three days we have changed circuits and there are only three right corners where you can really push.

“I still have a long way to go in this regard, but you have to enjoy all the good times because it gives you the fuel to keep pushing. Will I get back to (my) 2025 levels or not? I will, we’ll see. I’d rather fall at the last hurdle without trying.”

Marquez Two of the screws in his shoulder from the Latarjet surgery in 2019, he will compete at the 2025 Indonesian Grand Prix in 2019.

So Marquez secretly plans to undergo another surgery on his shoulder following the Catalan Grand Prix to remove screws and bone fragments. Ultimately, he needed surgery on his leg after the climb during the Le Mans Sprint, so he brought that surgery forward.

Those two surgeries forced Márquez to sit out the French Grand Prix and the Catalan GP before battling with Acosta around the grueling Mugello circuit before coming back and finishing seventh at the Italian GP. But Balaton Park is a parking lot compared to Mugello, and Marquez has used the more challenging nature of the Hungarian GP venue to return to form this week.

So, even if he takes the pole and wins the Sprint in Hungary, Márquez will not be taken back to his best form or to the levels seen last year. The Cervera native won 11 Grands Prix and 14 Sprint Races in 2025 before edging out Marco Bezecic at Mandalica.
