Luigi D’Aligny says Francesco Bagnaia is ‘rediscovered champion’ after ‘masterstroke’ at Mugello

Luigi D’Aligna has labeled Francesco Bagnaia a ‘rediscovered champion’ after his ‘masterstroke’ at the Italian Grand Prix.

The 29-year-old Bagnaia finished on the podium for the first time this season after returning from third at Mugello.

Marco Bezzecchi won the Italian Grand Prix He extended his lead at the top of the standings to 17 ahead of teammate George Martin.

Touching Bagnaya‘s podium finish, Dall’Igna labeled the 29-year-old a ‘rediscovered champion’.

Dall’Igna also revealed that Bagnaia delivered a ‘masterstroke’ to ensure he held off trackhouse rider Ai Ogura for a place on the podium.

Dale Igna wrote: “Peco and Marc gave everything they had, each in their own right, as if they were both true champions.

“For Bagnaya, this is the second consecutive podium achieved by a ‘brave-hearted’ seed, who should finish third as he fights his way to the finish with a master-stroke in the final.

“It is a rediscovered champion today, offering a strong and meaningful symbol of pride.

“He had a great start on the grid as an absolute character: after a few laps he shot to the front, riding hard and fast trying to stay ahead and create a gap like in the past, in the fashion he has proven over time.

After a strong and convincing performance that boosted his confidence, he stayed as long as possible before giving way to his opponents.

The Italian added: “After reaching fifth place on Saturday, his still very weak physical condition did not stop him from fighting like a lion.”

Responding by hitting crafty opponents until dealing a clear and comprehensible physical defeat in the final round.
