The former cricketer also highlighted Samson’s credentials and insisted that the Kerala batsman deserves to stay firmly in contention.

“It has to be Sanju Samson at number three. Whenever he got a chance, he delivered. We saw that in the T20 World Cup.” he added.

Experience is key

Rahul’s ability to anchor the batting while accelerating when required has made him a reliable asset in ODI cricket. His batting experience in various positions coupled with his calm approach under pressure has strengthened his claim as India’s preferred wicketkeeper-batsman.

Meanwhile, Kishan offers a contrasting style with an aggressive batting game that provides flexibility depending on the team’s requirements. Samson also continues to stay in the mix after making the most of several opportunities in international cricket.
