The appearance will be another step in Charlo’s attempt to rebuild activity after spending much of the last few years out of the ring.
Charlo (36) has only fought once in 2025, stopping Thomas Lamanna in the sixth round last May. Before that victory, he had not competed since November 2023.
The undefeated Houston native has fought just three times since 2020, an unusually low number for a fighter who was once one of boxing’s most active champions. Prolonged layoffs, personal problems and inactivity slowed down what had been a successful career that saw Charlo win junior middleweight and middleweight world titles.

Main Event has not revealed an opponent for Charlo’s return in July, although the broadcaster’s social media post suggested an Australian fighter could be considered.
The Spence-Tszyu card is one of the biggest boxing events scheduled in Australia this year. Charlo’s addition gives the event another recognizable name, although questions remain about how much of the former champion remains after years of limited activity.
A win in July would give Charlo a second straight victory and could help position him for a bigger fight later in 2026.
