ZAGREB (CRO, June 24). The women’s high jump was held as a city event in the first of three days at the 76th Boris Hanjekovic Memorial (WACT Gold), with world record holder and Olympic champion Jaroslava Mahuchych winning with 1.97m. He then switched to 199 and tried outdoor WL 201. In second place were 2022 world champion and outdoor season leader Eleonora Patterson and World Championship bronze medalist Angelina Topic of Serbia, who both cleared 1.95m.
After the competition, Mahuchich said: “The atmosphere was great, I enjoyed it and I can’t wait to go back next year. The audiences were great and there were a lot of Ukrainians. On my third attempt at 1.97m, they cheered me on in Ukrainian and that gave me extra confidence. including 2.10m, of course I’m not happy with the result and I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t clear two meters, but it wasn’t a problem for me because I already have a pretty short jump and I really liked the surface because I felt like I could jump high.
