Shakur Stevenson will help Jake Paul spar in preparation for his 10-round exhibition bout against Gervonta Davis on November 14, 2025, at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.
Focusing on training to increase his speed, Jake chose lightweight champion Shakur, Montana Love and super featherweight Ray Ford. He loses muscle, so he hits faster for the tank fight.
Business Minds Meet
Shakur says working with Jake Paul will allow him “Choose a good business sense” to learn from him. The obvious thing for Stevenson to do without Paul is to stay in the bag more and focus on fighting the killers at 135, rather than playing it safe against lesser fighters. He’s never going to be a star by running around the ring and fighting electricians like Josh Padley.
Stevenson was his own worst enemy with his matchups and fighting style. That’s not something Jake Paul can fix unless Shakur is willing to change.
“We’ve got world champions. Ray Ford from the 130-pound weight class. We’ve got Montana Love, and Shakur Stevenson is coming in this week,” Jake Paul told TMZ Sports about the sparring partners he has in preparation for his November 14 exhibition match against Gervonta Davis.
Paul vs. Davis will be featured live on Netflix at a maximum weight of 195 pounds. This is a matchup where Jake will have to figure out a way to deal with Tank’s speed advantage.
Undercard
- Alycia Baumgardner vs Leila Beaudoin
- Gary Antoine Russell vs Andy Hiraoka
- Cherneka Johnson vs. Amanda Galle
- Yokasta Valle vs Yadira Bustillos
Jake’s Speed Blueprint
“So, there’s sparring against guys at his level and people who’ve been doing it their whole lives, but we really focus on speed and not so much on strength. I don’t do as much weightlifting and all that.
“I’m kind of like losing some muscle so I’ll have less weight and my punches go down faster,” Paul said.
Fire, get a chance to pick a good business brain and help give some game in the process I’m down 🦾 https://t.co/rBQlA1ihlI
