The week after the Ryder Cup is sometimes as juicy as what happens during the Ryder Cup week. Golf writers and editors break down the consequences of Bethpage Black, the reaction to unruly fans, who must capture the next, and more.
In the days after Europe’s Ryder Cup victory in Bethpage Black, most of the conversation has focused on fansHeckling and reaction to him, by players, golf legends, organizers and more. Is the Ryder Cup experience out of control? Or are some of these overloaded?
Jessica Marxbury, high editor (@Jess_Marksbury) :: The loud and partisan crowds are what makes Ryder Cup fun, but it sounds like this year things went up. The type of vitriol that was reported is against the spirit of the event – and the sport itself – and this is a shame, because the noise atmospheres can and must still be respectful. What is what makes tournaments like WM Phoenix open so dear. But there is definitely a good line there.
Sean Zak, elderly writer (@sean_zak) :: It would not call it “out of control”, but rather “unprecedented”. The organizers of the events clearly did not have the necessary protocols to manage for unworthy verbal abuse. I think you’ve seen that in their removal designated by certain couples. viz Okay okay get your absurd show in another part of the propertyinstead of expelling those periods. I will not act as it is simple – but I think there was not enough control, and we would benefit to see more of him four years from now in Hazeltin.
Jack Harsh, editor of associate equipment (@Jr_bresany) :: I think Rory Mcilroy’s comments Sunday night hit the nail on the head. Golf can keep himself up to the highest standard. Ryder and Phoenix Open Cup are the only shifts of the year where you also hear Boos on the course. How can it be shifted so far for people to call Mcilroy Slurs and throw things to his wife, not to mention the people who screaming while the euro players were on the shooting? There is a clear and visible line and it was crucified and the fans who participated in it should be ashamed of themselves.
If something is to be changed, what is the measure?
ZAK: Better communication – included by the captain – better messages from EmeryBest precedents set at the beginning of the week, etc. Oh, and when it seems to be creating, go out forward its. Saturday morning than on Monday morning. Talking with fans waiting for half-hole in front of groups that get the worst from it. This was not happening.
Marxbury: Undoubtedly devastating behavior should not be tolerated, complete stop. There should be many staff members in the country to identify the incentives and remove them – not in a new place on the course, but outside the property.
Hirah: These are both good, but I saw a tweet on Monday I agree with. Because the price of tickets in this Ryder cup was so absurd, the only people who could afford were not afraid of punishing what they did. I think PGA appreciated the people themselves who would have appreciated the opportunity to see the Ryder Cup.

The next ryder cup is two years away in Adare Manor in IrelandAnd now the conversation returns to who leads both teams. Does Luke Donald turn for three in a row? And who runs the US?
ZAK: Yes I think Luke will want to know WHO He is against, as captains are often remembered about their competition. He will not rush to that decision and will have six months or more to solve it. That said, I bet he does it again. He seems to enjoy it a lot.
To the Americans hmph. The short list seems to be 5 deep. Keegan Bradley, Stewart Cink, Brandt Singeker, Jim Furyk and Tiger Woods. The one I think will do the best job is… Furyk. But Bradley would do well, I think. Many of this year’s cup was out of his control, as is often the case.
Marxbury: It was probably as if Luke would strongly consider giving a piece of three peat. I would actually want to see KEEGAN get one more blow if he were up to it. It seemed as if American players enjoyed his leadership and that was saying something after a loss. Given the list of other names that Sean sailed, I’m not sure who would be the other choice.
Hirah: Zak, I believe it was you who mentioned the other American captain should have the captain until he is lost. Donald has not lost and seems to have everything covered. Even if he goes for three wins and loses, he will still go down as one of the best European captains of the Ryder Cup.
For SH.BA, I don’t even know at this point. Tiger looks apparent, but not sure if he can promote the atmosphere of the team with which Europe has succeeded. I say return to Steve Stricker. Not even sure why he was not the captain in Rome.
In Bethpage, Keegan Bradley had the opportunity to be a captain playing, though he chose not to choose himself and, in trouble, could have hurt Americans without having him as a player. Should the US PGA avoid this situation in 2027, so Bradley has an opportunity to contribute as a player?
ZAK: Eh, we don’t have to rely on a 41-year-old version of Keegan Bradley to be the best version of Keegan Bradley. Especially with many young Americans who will surely be better than 41-Yo Keegs. It may make the most sense to offer Bradley work tomorrow and say, “We will treat the games-captain again if you are pressing it in 18 months.”
Marxbury: Given the way Keegan has played in the last two years, he may want to focus fully on getting the team himself! I’m sure a captain’s stress is even more draining than it seems. So yes, if Keegan is the choice, I agree with the sean – they have to block it in ASAP.
Hirah: I don’t think that Keegan should be captain in 2027, so this is not a matter for me!
Robert Macintyre won a Alfred Dunhill Links ChampionshipDP World Tour Stop that plays bucket courses like the old course in St andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns. With visits to these places (and the above average fields it usually produces), is Dunhill the most underestimated prohibition in Pro Golf? If not, what is it?
ZAK: On the short list. Aussie Open is right there, however. She routinely visits some of the best golf on the planet, and Melbourne in December doubles as a much better holiday destination than Fife in October, with all the respect for my Scottish friends.
Marxbury: From a eye caramel perspective, I am partial with the European masters, and the epic on-screen images on Crans-Sierre, Switzerland.
Hirah: It is a kind of pleasure to know that St. Andrews gets a tour every year. Basically it is & t Pebble Beach I Pebble Pebble. I will also throw open Irish in the years going to Royal County down.
