Penny admitted that the teenager was not completely satisfied with the role, not because of any shortcomings, but because of his passion for the field.
“He missed the last game, he wasn’t too happy because he loves his pitch. It’s not because he’s a poor fielder.” Penny explained during her interaction with broadcasters.

Team balance forces tough choice calls
Penny further clarified that the decision was largely driven by team balance and the return of the South African all-rounder. Donovan Ferreira. Ferreira recently underwent a fitness test after recovering from a collarbone injury sustained during the SA20 earlier this year.
“Donovan passed his fitness test. Broke collarbone in SA20. He’s a gun player. It’s good to have him back on the field. It’s a shame Vaibhav missed that chance.” Penny added.
The management prefers a combination that offers flexibility in both batting and fielding, even if it means restricting one of their brightest young talents.
