Kristoffer Reitan was not playing in a tournament. But he would still play.
Reitan said he had created a game with fellow professionals Rasmus Hojgaard, Marco Money AND Chris Ventura. He said he was looking forward to it.
Then the phone rang.
He was the first alternate at the Cadillac Championship, this week’s PGA Tour event. He left for Miami.
Then Reitan was inside.

“Just mostly happy to be here and have a chance at one of the signing events,” Reitan said. “Yeah, I’ve been trying to watch it as whatever happens this week is a bonus no matter what.
“Obviously very, very pleased to be in the position I’m in.”
