It’s a beautiful thing when a golf retailer takes hard-earned feedback and decides there are things worth optimizing.
This seems like the bare minimum, but you’d be surprised how often brands pass up opportunities to optimize across their entire product line. Our goal at MyGolfSpy is to test every piece of equipment we can get our hands on, give it a fair shot under the same conditions as its competitors, and then provide feedback to golfers and OEMs.
One brand has done an outstanding job at this recently: Maxfli with their current line of bags.
Maxfli took feedback from a number of different sources, applied those findings to optimize their current line of bags, and I’m here to show you the changes they made and how they got there.
Current Bag Lineup
Maxfli has three stand bags that have been put to the test:

The Maxfli Air Stand Bag was created as a lightweight option for those who hate carrying too much extra weight on the course. Weighing 2.9 kilograms, it is slightly less than half the weight of its siblings. In addition to being lightweight, the Air Stand bag features dual straps and carbon fiber support legs for an affordable price of $229.99.
How did they do it?
Maxfli turned to a number of different sources when looking for ways to build on past success, including feedback from these key sources:

- MyGolfSpy’s Most Wanted Test Results
- Analysis of overseas trends
- Other forums
Maxfli compiled the data and went to work.
What they optimized
– Modern classic stay bag
New and improved features with the modern classic prop bag include:
- A piece of Velcro gloves
Maxfli listened to user feedback/requests when adding the Velcro glove patch, making sure it was included in new variations.
- Single strap
If you prefer a single-strap setup when carrying your carrier bag, the Modern Classic now comes with the option to use a single-strap design with g-hook connections. - Double four-point harness belt
If you prefer a double strap, the Modern Classic is perfect. - Updated hardware
- Removable ball pocket (customizable).
Maxfli added a removable ball pocket that can be customized.
– Honors Stand Bag
- Removable ball pocket (customizable).
- Insulated cooler AND mesh water bottle holder
Maxfli received a lot of feedback focused on hydration, so they added an insulated cooler and a mesh water bottle holder. - Stroller belt
This cart strap is great for securing your bag to the golf cart. - Magnetic accessory holder
An added magnet to hold accessories (such as spacers).
– Air bag
Maxfli essentially rebuilt the previous Air Stand bag to maintain its light weight but increase durability.
- The material was updated to durable ripstop.
Maxfli updated the new model with a durable ripstop material.
- Carbon fiber support legs
The Maxfli relies on carbon fiber legs to increase durability and functionality.
Even with these improvements, the Air Stand bag still weighs just 2.9 pounds.
Final thoughts
As you can see, Maxfli modified many aspects of their bag lineup in response to constructive criticism from users.
Steady legs are non-negotiable. If you’ve ever used a cheap golf bag, you know how annoying it is to have your bag keep falling over.
The option to have single or double straps is another added bonus.
By today’s standards, a hydration feature in a premier bag isn’t just a bonus, it’s necessary.
