At one stage, KKR were completely out of the playoff race after five defeats in their first six matches. However, a remarkable turnaround over the past few weeks has now put them in contention heading into the final round of league fixtures. The win over Mumbai not only lifted spirits in the KKR camp but also ensured that the race for the fourth play-off spot remained alive till the end of the group stage.
KKR survives with crucial win over MI
In a rain-affected contest played on a tough Eden Gardens surface, KKR produced another disciplined all-round performance to beat MI and register their sixth win of the season. Both teams remain mathematically alive in the race, meaning any unexpected result could further complicate the playoff equation.
