Even though it’s about six months early, Odyssey just unveiled a perfect version of its Black Friday lineup. This gorgeous new noir line features Odyssey assistive technology and fan-favorite head shapes, all wrapped in black.
It’s not the day after Thanksgiving, but once you see the new Square 2 Square TRI-HOT Black gear, don’t be surprised if you experience feelings of gratitude.
It’s the perfect time for you to explore how Odyssey makes zero torque. The S2S TRI-HOT Black line packs all the functional technologies that have made them the zero torque to beat in 2026.
“Putters to beat” isn’t hyperbole either. Just this week, Odyssey S2S TRI-HOT #7 was crowned 2026 most wanted with zero-torque.
What a week! Scoreboard and a new outfit. If you contrast the colors red and black the original S2S TRI-HOT the paws were too bold for you, maybe basic black will be more to your liking.
A long list of tire design innovations
I’m going for it BRIEFS list the important shooting technologies that Odyssey packed into their Square 2 Square TRI-HOT devices. Again, I’m trying to be brief, but Odyssey packed the tech into these gadgets.
Zero torque with shaft facing
The primary mission of the Square 2 Square TRI-HOT line was to move the axle from the center of the propeller to a more traditional forward location. The challenge was to do this and maintain the zero-torque nature of the gauge.
The Odyssey used a multi-material construction, including a lot of tungsten, to move the dredger’s center of gravity upline. This allowed them to attach the axle to this new forward center of gravity location.
The shaft still connects to the CG, but the CG is now at the front.
The Odyssey bends the axle and maintains the zero torque profile
Odyssey then decided to mess with the shaft. Moving the CG and axle forward made for a more traditional looking center pivot shooter, but some people aren’t interested in center pivot shooters.
Knowing this, Odyssey released the bestselling S2S TRI-HOT SB. These magazines featured a shaft with a bend attached to the heel of the gauge. The turn on the shaft drove the shaft angle right at the CG now forward. This eliminated torque but, more importantly, opened up the center of the propeller for a more traditional look.
Odyssey made zero torque look so “normal” that they had to add a “Still Zero Torque” sticker to the handle.
Other cool tech stuff
Axis location is not the only technology story with the S2S TRI-HOT and TRI-HOT SB gauges. The heavier 120SL shaft and Pistol Plus grips are new as is the Ai-DUAL insert.
In any other version, the Ai-DUAL insert with its Forward Roll Design grooves would be the highlight of the tech chronicle. Ultimately, the insert normalizes distance while promoting better spin than the original Ai-ONE insert.
The new black color will undoubtedly obscure these important deployment technologies for this release. Good thing you don’t need to know the technology is there for it to work.

In total, there are six new S2S TRI-HOT Black models. I have the pictures of five in my hand. For the #7 Cruiser, just pretend the Black #7 SB is heavier and longer.

Embracing the black darkness S2S TRI-HOT
There’s a lot to unpack with these torque-free black beauties. First of all, it’s nice that there is a mix of center-shaft and single-spindle models.
Odyssey understands that zero-torque gamers from both camps will be interested in the new black color. Unfortunately, Camp Lefty is left out of the dark this time.
S2S TRI-HOT Black style contrasts
I really appreciate the gray-blue contrast on the S2S TRI-HOT Black Jailbird models. I was expecting classic black and white stripes. The contrast is still there with the black and gray-blue, but it’s more subtle.
The black bottom is dynamic. You can see in the photo that the depth of the finish shifts with the light. In cloudy conditions, it is very black. In full sun, the finish changes to a deep charcoal.
This black is not basic.
In all light conditions, white sight lines appear against the darker base color.
