Richardson Hitchins extended his welterweight shout-outs to Conor Benn following his 12-round unanimous decision victory over Chris Eubank Jr. in their rematch Saturday night in London, England.
Added Benn to the list
Hitchins (20-0, 8 KOs), who already defeated Ryan Garcia and the winner of Devin Haney vs. Brian Norman Jr. exclaimed, expanded his quest for a money fight to include Benn (24-1, 14 KOs).
Fans immediately attacked IBF 140-lb champion Hitchins, saying it was “terrible” that he became a champion because he shows no interest in fighting any of the top fighters in his weight class, Gary Antuanne Russell, Subriel Matias, Keyshawn Davis and Ernesto Mercado.
I’m not gone, I’m lying and Coner Ben was able to get it at 147 😉

Hitchins hunts upwards
Benn (29) took advantage of the age and physical exhaustion of the 36-year-old Eubank Jr. (35-4, 25 KOs) to defeat him via a 12-round unanimous decision tonight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England. He has Eubank Jr. dropped twice in the 12th round and was 30 seconds away from knocking him out if there was more time left in the fight. The scores were 119-107, 116-110 and 118-108.
At some point, Richardson, 28, will have to realize that he can’t turn down a fight without earning it by fighting the top predators at 140.
Hitchins’ recent eighth round knockout victory over George Kambosos Jr. on June 14, 2025, wasn’t a significant enough win to open the doors to the mega-million-dollar payday fights he craves against Benn, Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney.
Hitchins is just sitting on his IBF belt and trying to push fights against 147-pounders who are well above his pay grade and have accomplished more in their careers.
140’s wolves ignored
Hitchins is basically putting the cart before the horse with his career by trying to get the big money fights without earning them by fighting the wolves of the 140-lb division. In other words, Richardson is cutting corners and trying to get the profitable fights without risking his hiding place.
