Inter dominated Parma 2-0 at the San Siro to strengthen their grip on top spot, with Marcus Thuram and Henrikh Mkhitaryan finding the net either side of half-time.
Inter’s strong performance against Parma underlined why the Nerazzurri sit top of Serie A. The hosts controlled proceedings from start to finish, recording 59% possession and 12 shots in total. Parma offered little resistance, managing just four shots with none finding the target.
The home team broke the deadlock in dramatic fashion shortly before the break. Marcus Thuram collected the ball on the edge of the box and fired a clinical finish past the Parma goalkeeper in the 45th minute. The goal capped a dominant first-half display in which Inter created numerous chances.
Inter’s midfield orchestrated the game with precision. Nicolò Barella pulled the strings from deep, completing 89 minutes of intelligent distribution. Piotr Zieliński added creativity in advanced positions before receiving a yellow card in the 64th minute. Federico Dimarco provided space all over the left flank.
Parma struggled to get a foothold in the game. The visitors managed minimal attacking threat and were often limited to long-range efforts. Their defensive organization offered little protection, often leaving goalkeeper Simone Scuffet exposed.
In the second half, Inter maintained their intensity without giving up. Henrikh Mkhitaryan sealed victory in the 80th minute with a composed finish. The substitute made an impact immediately after entering the fray, demonstrating Inter’s depth in attacking areas.
Lautaro Martínez provided an assist despite playing just 25 minutes before giving way to new legs. His influence on the game remained significant even in a limited time. Zieliński’s key passes helped create space for Inter’s attacking moves.
The statistics paint a picture of Inter’s superiority. Inter have registered five shots on goal compared to Parma’s none. Expected goals significantly favored the hosts at 2.09 to 0.27, reflecting the quality of the chances created.
Possession and passing accuracy showed Inter’s control. The hosts completed 523 of 570 passes with 92% accuracy. Parma managed 363 of 410 passes with 89% accuracy, operating in reactive mode throughout.
Inter’s defensive solidity also impressed. The Nerazzurri only committed nine fouls while limiting Parma to three corners. Parma’s three offsides suggested they were struggling for time in attack.
This victory maintains Inter’s position at the top with 79 points in 34 games. The Nerazzurri have won 25 games and drawn four. Parma remain 12th with 42 points, their recent form showing mixed results.
Inter’s efficiency in front of goal was decisive. Two clinical finishes separated the teams in a match that never threatened to be competitive. The Nerazzurri’s path to the title becomes clearer with every dominant performance like this.
