Bagnaia has started the 2025 MotoGP season on the back foot compared to Marquez, as he has one win, one P2 finish, five P3 finishes and two P4 finishes in the first 12 rounds. Márquez meanwhile has eight wins, a P2 finish and a P3 before the summer break.

in addition, Bagnaia won the US GP only after Marquez crashed. from the lead in the third round at COTA last March. As Marquez continued to dominate until suffering a shoulder injury last October, Bagnaia’s efforts to secure his position after the summer break have become more difficult.

A P4 finish would have been poor for Bagnaia, who have battled for the title in all four seasons. Bagnaia only finished on the podium five times in 20 races in 2023 and four times in 20 races in 2024. Now, the Italian realizes that success has eluded him.
