The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad witnessed a high-octane cricket spectacle on Sunday. Gujarat Titans (GT) won a breathtaking 4-wicket win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) In his 46th match IPL 2026 season. In a contest that swung like a pendulum, GT managed to hold their nerve till the end of the game, successfully chasing down the target of 164 and consolidating their position in the points table.
Jason Holder’s 4-fer derails the PBKS batting line-up in the first innings
Win the toss and pick the trophy, Shubman Gills decision was immediately confirmed by his tempo battery. The Kings of Punjab got off to a disastrous start as they were defeated Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly the first three deliveries of the match for the ducks, courtesy of a fiery opening spell Muhammad Siraj (2/28). When Prabhsimran Singh fell Kagiso Rabada in the powerplay, PBKS were reeling at 35/3.
However, the middle parts belonged to the whole Jason Holder. The powerful West Indian all-rounder produced a masterclass in disciplined seam bowling, finishing with remarkable figures of 4/24 in his quota of 4 overs. He was the first to break the owner’s resistance Shreyas Iyer (19) and Nehal Wadhera (0) in quick succession, leaving the PBKS middle order in tatters at 47/5.
Live counter attack Suryansh ShedgeHe hit a quick 57 and a steady 40 off 29 balls (including 4 fours and 4 sixes). Marcus Stoinisbriefly threatened to take the game away from GT. However, Holder returned to remove the dangerous Stoinis and Xavier Bartlett On the 18th, it effectively stopped the momentum. Despite a late cameo from Marco Jansen (20), PBKS finished on 163/9, a total that looked competitive but perhaps 15 runs short given the conditions.
Sai Sudharsan’s composed innings led GT to an emphatic victory over PBKS
The chase was far from a walk in the park for the Gujarat Titans. Skipper Gill departed early for just 5 but the innings found its anchor Sai Sudharsan. The young left-hander played a mature and calculated 57 off 41 balls, with five boundaries and a powerful six.
Sudharsan found capable partners If Buttler (26) and Nishant Sindhu (15), building partnerships that keep the required business momentum at bay. 15 passed after Sudharsan’s dismissal Vijay Kumar Vishak, the match entered the tense final stage. Veteran at 124/4 Washington Sundar assumed his duties. Sundar’s unbeaten 23-ball 40 proved to be the clinical edge GT needed.
The drama reached its climax in the final bowled by Stoinis. 12 runs required from last six balls and after losing Jason Holdenfor r (5). Arshdeep Singh before the end, the pressure was great. Arshad Khan (8*) and Sundar converted the strike brilliantly to reduce the tie to 3 runs needed from 2 balls. Sundar kept his composure and dropped a ball to ensure victory at 167/6.
