Dubois credits heart and resilience for Wardley win

“Bundles of Heart”

“Yes, it does. Because I know I have heart. Bundles of heart. I’m a fighter inside,” Dubois said when asked if the performance silenced critics who question his heart.

Dubois also dismissed the opening tee shot as something he quickly mentally shook off.

“Flash Knockdown”

“Blitz knocked off. Me, you know, I got to get back up, bounce it off and come back harder. Man, I’m a fighter,” Dubois said.

The British heavyweight praised Wardley several times afterwards, describing the bout as a brutal battle between two fighters prepared to absorb punishment.

“What a great battle”

“It was a war. We get through the tough moments. It was a war. Thank you, Fabio, for that,” Dubois said.

“He’s a durable guy, you know. He’s a real fighter, a great fighter. I thank him for a great fight, man. It was an honor to be in the ring with him.”

Dubois also credited his jab and overall skill set with helping him regain control as the fight wore on.

“I had to pull out the bag and rely on it and use all my skills. Yeah, what a big fight. What a big fight, man. But I’m number one again,” Dubois said.

Asked what he wants next after reclaiming a world heavyweight title, Dubois focused more on improvement than specific opponents.

“I want to grow from this fight, improve, and come back even better and reign as champion again,” Dubois said.
