Cremonese demolished Pisa 3-0 at the Stadio Giovanni Zini, with Jamie Vardy, Federico Bonazzoli and David Okereke on target to secure a dominant home win.
Cremonese put in a commanding performance against a Pisa side that crumbled under the pressure. The home team controlled possession with 77% of the ball and fired 10 shots, while Pisa failed to find a target. This result reflects the stark difference between the two Serie A teams fighting for survival.
The home side struck early through Jamie Vardy in the 31st minute. Vardy found space in the box and finished clinically to give Cremonese a deserved lead. The goal rewarded the hosts’ dominant first period and set the tone for the game.
Pisa’s afternoon took a dramatic turn for the worse when Riccardo Bozhinov received two yellow cards in quick succession. The defender was booked in the 16th minute, then again in the 23rd minute, leaving Pisa with 10 men before the break. This early dismissal changed the game decisively in favor of the Cremonese.
The visitors’ problems increased when Filippo Loyola was shown a red card in the 57th minute. Pisa now faced an impossible task with nine men on the field. Their defensive shape collapsed and they were unable to make any meaningful attacks.
Bonazzoli doubled Cremonese’s lead in the 51st minute, just after the restart. The striker showed composure to finish from close range to extend the score. His performance earned him a rating of 7.9, the highest for either team.
David Okereke added a third goal in the 86th minute to seal the win. The visiting team offered virtually no resistance in the second half. Cremonese’s dominance was total, with 697 passes completed with 93% accuracy.
The statistics paint a picture of unilateral control. Cremonese recorded an expected goals value of 1.11 and had six shots on goal. Pisa managed zero shots on goal throughout the match.
Vardy and Bonazzoli led the Cremonese attack with goals each. Jari Vandeputte created chances from midfield with three key passes. Alberto Grassi controlled the pace in the center of the park.
This emphatic victory provides some relief for Cremonese, who are in 18th place with 28 points. However, they remain in the relegation zone with just six wins from 35 games. Pisa’s situation is more dire in 20th position with only 18 points and five consecutive defeats.
Cremonese hope that this performance will mark a turning point in their season. The team showed quality and ruthlessness when the opportunity presented itself. Both sides face critical games ahead as they battle to avoid dropping out of Serie A.
