Junior middleweight contender Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis today posted a photo of himself and Canelo Alvarez on X after a sparring session before Alvarez’s defense of his undisputed Super -middleweight title against Terence Crawford on September 13.
Canelo get elite -sparring
Canelo (63-2-2, 39 food) gets help with first-class sparring from former IBF and WBA welterweight champion Ennis (34-0, 30 food) for his fight against Crawford (41-0, 31 costs) on Netflix. With such sparring, it will be difficult for Crawford to match similar help.

This is an excellent training for Ennis, which makes its debut on 154 on October 11 against Uuis Lima (14-1, 10 COs) in the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Sparring with Canelo will help ‘boots’ prepare for the running lima.
“He plays a little too big for him in a section,” coach Marc Ramsey said SecondsTalk about Crawford taking a great jump in weight, from 154 to 168 to challenge Canelo. “For me, it’s like when Canelo opposed (Dmitri Biblical. It’s not that he wasn’t as good as Biscuit. The punch was not the same effect as in another section (168).”
Ramsey leads former undisputed light heavyweight champion Artur Betterbiev. Crawford’s chances would be better if he had moved up after 168, fought a few tune-ups and stayed busy. He did the opposite, chose to sit, set up and train for a year. It does not look good for 37-year-old Crawford, and it raises doubts about his true rationale to wage this battle. In other words, he had a campaign for the huge pay day and just waiting until he got the money.
Coach questioned Crawford’s chances
“I believe that there is a limitation on what you can do as a person and push it to the category,” Ramsey said. ‘Canelo is also a very gifted man. He is not just physically strong. He is talented. I believe he’s going to win. Even though he is no longer at his peak, he is still physically strong and gifted. I believe he is good enough to deliver a performance. I believe a split decision for Canelo, but it will be close, ‘says Ramsey.
Crawford seems to be able to beat some of the super -middleweights, but not Canelo. The age, size, lack of experience and inactivity of Crawford are the main problems. Bud will be out of the ring for 13 months if he walks into the ring next month to fight Canelo. Nebraska native Crawford can get away with the kind of inactivity that guys like Israil Madrimov, Errol Spence jr. And Shawn Porter, but not Canelo.
