Bozy Ennis says Keyshawn steps down Devin Haney

Keyshawn Davis may have just picked up one of the strongest public endorsements yet for a future fight against Devin Haney. Trainer Derek “Bozy” Ennis believes Keyshawn’s physical style could be the deciding factor if the two undefeated fighters finally meet at welterweight.

“I think it’s a great fight, man,” Bozy told YSM Sports Media. “Devin’s a good boxer. Keyshawn, he, he boxes and he’ll fight you inside.

“So, I think it’s going to be a great fight, man. I think it’s going to be a great fight.

“I think it all depends on what Keyshawn does. Is he going to box him or is he going to walk him or you know what I mean?”

Ennis believes Haney’s movement and boxing IQ will cause problems early, but he still sees Keyshawn eventually trying to force the action.

“And what do you really call him? He’s like a good good boxer, right? He’ll box you and move you and you know he’s he’s smart,” Bozy said of Haney.

“Devin is kind of smart in boxing. Intelligent really intelligent. Keyshawn is that too.

“If I want to put my money on it, I’ll put my money on Keshan walking him down. You know what I mean? Even though he likes to box, I think he’ll try to walk Devin down.”

Bozy questioned whether Haney could handle a physical fight once close-quarters exchanges began to break down.

“Keep boxing the way he usually boxes and move. He’s very intelligent when it comes down to it,” Bozy said of Haney.

“But war in a war in the war. No, he’s not going to win at all in the war fighting Keyshawn.

“Once they start fighting, both of them start fighting, who’s going to win the better IQ?”

He also dismissed concerns about Keyshawn Davis moving up to 147 pounds for a possible Haney fight. Bozy believes the extra weight could actually make him more dangerous.

“Yeah, I think he’s going to be a lot stronger. He’s strong now. So, I think he’s going to be a lot stronger,” Bozy said.

Any fight between Haney and Keyshawn Davis will likely have to wait. Haney is still expected to move toward a rematch with Ryan Garcia, while Keyshawn will start at welterweight first. Still, the match is already garnering attention because of the clash between Haney’s movement and Keyshawn’s pressing style.

Even with growing interest in the bout, the business side of boxing makes it hard to imagine Haney taking that kind of risk before a second fight with Ryan Garcia is finalized.
