Blades Brown is one of my favorite young players to watch. I have seen him play a few times in person and, hopefully, he has a long career ahead of him.
Callaway recently released a video breaking down Brown’s current WITB. What made it interesting was not only the list of clubs. It was listening to Brown explain why certain clubs are in the bag, what he sees from them and which parts of the setup he clearly trusts.

1. His 19 degree iron is one of his favorite clubs
Brown called his own Callaway X Forged UT a “podium club,” placing it behind only his player and driver among his favorite clubs in the bag. He said his 58-degree wedge and 2-iron are tied for third.
Technically, he called the 19-degree utility iron a “2 1/2 iron.” The appeal is quite clear. Brown said he’s reliable out there, useful when he needs to keep the ball downwind and a club he trusts when he needs to get one in the game.
He also shared an interesting course-dependent detail. His stock tip with the utility iron is about 80 feet. If he’s playing a hard, fast course where he needs something that’s softer, he can switch to a hybrid. That hybrid flies a bit farther and tops out closer to 120 feet.
2. The new 3-wood fixed a specific bug
The 3-wood was one of the most detailed parts of the video. Brown said he decided Callaway Quantum Ti on the bag just before the Puerto Rico tournament and described it as “revolutionary” to his game.
Before that, he was playing a triple diamond wood with a Tensei White shaft. Brown said he could hit it OK, but the misses were heavy. His example was a high-spinning right-hander that could go about 200 yards into the wind instead of his usual 270 yards.
with Quantum Ti 3-woodhe said the head and shaft fit his swing better. He can hit the bullet low when he needs to, but still get high when the shot calls for it. He also mentioned spin in the 3,500 to 3,600 rpm range and said he was seeing more ball speed than he had with his previous 3-wood.
3. Putter setup is more specific than it seems
Brown called his player “the stick” which he tells you shortly before explaining the details.
He is using one Odyssey Ai-ONE Double Wide with a maniac neck. Brown said he previously used a center-shaft pattern before working with his putting coach and getting into the Double Wide.
The biggest detail was the stretch. Brown uses a small topline instead of a backline because he says he targets the player better that way. With a line on his back, he said his eyes don’t see it as well because of the curvature. With the top line, it feels like it aims better on both short and long shots.
Final thoughts
Full Blades Brown WITB is interesting, but the best part of the video is how specific it gets about why certain clubs work.
