“I told them who I was many times, but they refused to listen. The police beat me indiscriminately with sticks and plastic pipes. Later, when I identified myself at the police station, the officer in charge told me to close my eyes while talking. If they are really police, why did they try to put me in the CNG instead of the police car?” Nayeem said.
The spinner was finally released after it was confirmed that he was a Bangladesh national cricketer. He then returned home on Saturday morning.
