Bayern Munich crowned Bundesliga champions after thrilling comeback win over Stuttgart

Bayern Munich sealed a record 35th Bundesliga win on Sunday, recovering from an early deficit to beat Stuttgart 4-2 at the Allianz Arena.

Having lost just once all season, the Bavarian giants needed just a single point to clinch the crown following Borussia Dortmund’s defeat at Hoffenheim the night before. But Stuttgart, still chasing next season’s Champions League qualification, arrived in Munich with no intention of turning around.

The visitors stunned the home crowd in the 21st minute when Chris Fuhrich curled a superb effort past the Bayern keeper to briefly halt the championship celebrations. The answer, however, was resounding.

Raphael Guerreiro equalized for Bayern ten minutes later, before on-loan Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, replacing the rested Harry Kane, gave the hosts the lead just two minutes later. Alphonso Davies then extended the lead nine minutes before the break, latching on to Luis Diaz’s clever pass to make it 3-1.

Kane, brought on at half-time for Jamal Musiala, needed just seven minutes to score his 32nd league goal of the campaign and effectively kill off the game. Chema Andres pulled one back for Stuttgart in the 88th minute, but it was little more than a late consolation.

The win secures a 13th Bundesliga title in the last 14 seasons for Bayern and keeps alive their hopes of a historic treble, with a DFB-Pokal semi-final against Bayer Leverkusen and a Champions League quarter-final clash with Paris Saint-Germain later this month.
