Bayern Munich secured a thrilling 4-3 Champions League victory over Real Madrid, capped off by a dramatic late turnaround at the Allianz Arena.
The Allianz Arena hosted a classic European match on 15 April. Bayern went into the match sitting second in the group, while Real Madrid arrived needing points to improve on their ninth position.
The match burst into life immediately. Arda Güler silenced the home crowd by scoring for the visitors from the first minute.
Bayern responded quickly through Aleksandar Pavlović. He tied the score in the 6th minute to restore parity for the German team.
The frantic pace continued throughout the first half. Güler struck again in the 29th minute to put Real Madrid in front with 2-1.
Bayern captain Harry Kane refused to let his side fall behind for long. The forward found the goal in the 38th minute and equalized again.
Just before the break, Kylian Mbappé fired Real Madrid ahead again. His goal in the 42nd minute took the visitors into the half with a 3-2 lead.
The second half required a change of approach from the hosts. Bayern dominated possession, looking for a way out in the face of stubborn defensive blocking.
Tensions mounted as the clock ticked down. Real Madrid’s discipline failed, resulting in a red card for Eduardo Camavinga in the 86th minute.
Bayern immediately took advantage of the numerical advantage. Luis Díaz found the equalizer in the 89th minute, setting the scene for a frenetic finish.
Michael Olise became the hero in the time of disconnection. He scored in the 94th minute to complete the comeback and seal a 4-3 victory.
Bayern controlled the game with 69% possession and 20 total shots compared to Madrid’s 12. Despite Madrid’s highest expected goals of 2.27, Bayern’s persistence proved decisive.
This result strengthens Bayern’s position at the top of the table. For Real Madrid, the late collapse leaves them searching for answers as their Champions League campaign comes under significant pressure.
