Bakhodir Jalolov eyes future fight with Moses Itauma

“Very talented guy, definitely,” Jalolov said Boxing News about his interest in fighting the undefeated Moses Itauma. “One of the greatest prospects in heavyweight boxing right now.”

Jalolov (16-0, 14 KOs) said that ongoing fights in Britain could eventually lead to a meeting between the two undefeated heavyweights.

“I believe if I keep boxing in the UK to make some fans background, we’ll probably run into each other in the next two years,” Jalolov said.

Itauma has quickly become one of the most talked-about young heavyweights in Britain, while Jalolov remains one of the sport’s most decorated amateurs after winning Olympic gold medals in Tokyo and Paris.

The Uzbek southpaw said he is now fully focused on the professional side of his career after years of balancing between amateur and pro boxing.

“At a certain moment,” said Jalolov, “it became to become a two-time Olympic champion, but now it is aimed at having all the belts in the pro.”

Jalolov takes on Agron Smakici this Saturday in the Fabio Wardley vs. Daniel Dubois undercard in Manchester.

When asked how soon he wants a heavyweight title shot, Jalolov kept his answer simple.

“Just give him,” said Jalolov. “That’s it,” said about wanting to fight Itauma.
