Paris Saint-Germain dominated Angers with a clinical 3-0 win at the Stade Raymond-Kopa, with Lee Kang-In, Senny Mayulu and Lucas Beraldo finding the net to extend PSG’s lead at the top of Ligue 1.
PSG arrived in Anjou as the league’s runaway leaders, 35 points ahead of their hosts with a record 22 wins from 30 games. Angers, meanwhile, sit 13th with just 34 points from 31 games, their recent form showing three defeats in their last five outings. The gap in quality between the two sides was evident before kick-off.
PSG wasted no time in stamping their authority on proceedings. Lee Kang-In opened the scoring in the seventh minute, giving the visitors a starting point. The South Korean striker’s quick strike set the tone for what would become a one-sided affair.
Angers struggled to gain any meaningful possession or create genuine chances. Their defensive form has proved fragile in the face of PSG’s fluid attacking play. Goalkeeper Hervé Koffi was forced to make six saves throughout the game, facing constant pressure from the visitors.
PSG doubled their lead in the 39th minute when Senny Mayulu added a second goal. The hosts’ back line had no answer for the visitors’ movement and passing accuracy. PSG’s 72% possession and 814 total passes reflect their complete control of the midfield.
The second half started like the first, with PSG in the lead. Lucas Beraldo made it 3-0 in the 52nd minute, effectively ending any hopes Angers had of a comeback. The defender’s goal capped off a dominant display from the Parisian defence.
PSG’s defensive solidity was minimally tested. Angers managed just one shot on target over the 90 minutes, with an expected goals tally of just 0.26. In contrast, PSG fired 10 shots on goal from 17 total attempts, posting an xG of 2.99.
A red card from Gianluigi Ramos in the 74th minute marked PSG’s dominance. The midfielder received two yellow cards in quick succession, reducing PSG to ten men with 16 minutes remaining. However, this did not greatly affect the comfortable position of the visitors.
Beraldo stood out as PSG’s standout player, rating 8.9 and completing both of his shots on goal while providing an assist. Lee Kang-In also impressed with a 7.9 rating, combining his goal with an assist. PSG’s passing accuracy of 93% demonstrated their technical superiority throughout.
Angers offered precious little resistance, managing just five total shots with limited accuracy. Their 28% possession and nine fouls reflected a team overwhelmed by the quality and intensity of their opponents. Six offside decisions further highlighted their defensive disorganization.
The result extends PSG’s remarkable season. They now sit on 69 points from 30 games, maintaining their position at the top. Angers remain stuck in mid-table, their struggles continuing in a season that has fallen short of expectations.
PSG’s next challenge awaits as they continue their quest for the Ligue 1 title. Angers must regroup quickly and try to reverse their recent downward trajectory before the campaign comes to a close.
