Strong season opener in Barcelona: Rossi Attila Moor scores 9 points in two races.
The 2026 FIM MotoJunior World Championship Moto2 season kicks off this weekend in Barcelona. After a good setup at the end, Rossi Attila Moor finished 15th on the grid. But for Sunday’s race day, the team’s engineers decided to try a new direction to improve the bike’s performance.
In Race 1, the improved setup showed immediate promise. Rossi’s pace was improving nicely and he finished 13th and gained 3 championship points.
Race 2 started at 3:00 p.m., with track temperatures soaring above 50°C (122°F). The team made further improvements to the bike, particularly focusing on front tire wear which had caused problems in the first race.
Rossi started well and steadily moved up through the field. He initially took the checkered flag in 11th place, but after French rider Gimbert’s run in the final lap, the Hungarian-American rider moved up to 10th, adding a further 6 points.
Between the two races, Rossi improved his overall pace by an impressive 8 seconds – an average of one second per lap – indicating that the team had found the right starting point for the bike. Moving forward the goal is to continue to build on this foundation, improve race by race and close out the front group.
The points scored in Barcelona put Rossi 11th in the championship standings.

“In the first race we struggled a bit in the set-up, especially as the front tire got very tired towards the end. We sat down with the team before the second race and agreed to take a bit of a risk with a different set-up.
The FIM MotoJunior Moto2 field returns to action on June 14 in Estoril, Portugal.
