A mistake by Wyndham Clark during Friday’s second round at the PGA Championship created a scary moment as his ball hit a video camera held by a spectator about 10 feet away, narrowly missing several other people.
Based on online PGA leaderboardmoment came on the left side of the 11th hole at Aronimink Golf Club just outside philadelphia, at of Clark the second shot. An 11-second video of the incident was posted to TikTok by @abbiebrackin1 around 5pm ET and can be viewed below.
As seen in the video, about 50 people stood around Clark and his caddy as he hit his ball from a lie. The people to Clark’s right were about 5 feet away, and the people to his left were less than that. After Clark made contact with the ball, the ball exploded to his left and appeared to hit a spectator’s video camera lens about 10 yards away.
The crash startled those around the person holding the camera. A young girl to the right of the man sat down after the crash and then turned to the camera recording what had happened. A man to the right of the girl stepped back. No one appears to be injured. The ball ricocheted off the camera and to the left.
Several comments were heard in the posted video.
“Is everyone okay?”
“Or did he hit the camera?”
“It was the camera.”
“Oh my God.”
Clark, the 2023 US Open winner, will not play the weekend at PGA after missing the cut. By Friday evening, he had posted no comments about the incident on his social media accounts.
