By Matt Oxley:
Today’s competition is brought to you by the letter ‘A’. That’s ‘A’, like ‘Assen’, ‘Aprilia’, ‘Ai’ and, of course: “Aaaaaaaaaargh, why are there sharp pebbles everywhere?”
That gravel is particularly ugly as Peter assured us that the rocks here are not friendly. And that leads to those killer bumps and sharp corners that become even more difficult in the scorching heat.
Today we see the oldest track in MotoGP offering all its badass surprises and super fast passages. It’s the type of track that is perfectly suited to Aprilia’s current killer position, which brought the first Japanese winner in more than two decades to Ai Ogura and further shakes up the competition. The former golden boy of Moto2 has come out and delivered in these last few races, raising the question of what has been an impressive performance by a cool-as-a-pumpkin young rider. Matt and Peter have theories, but whatever, come on!
And speaking of wins, the number of championship wins this season is now up to a modest six, according to Matt. There doesn’t seem to be a sure bet this year…
Okay, enough of my ramblings. let go!
